“Hello?”

“Hey...! Uh, this is Undyne...” A voice comes from the back ground. “Shut up, Papyrus! This was YOUR idea!”

Sarah laughs, waiting for Undyne to stop scolding Papyrus.

“HUMAN! You have to deliver something for me!”

“...Deliver?”

“Uh, please? I’m at Snowdin in front of Papyrus’s.”

“Ah, alright. I’ll be there soon.”

“See ya, punk!”

Sarah snaps her phone shut, putting it away. She adjusts her glasses, smiling down at Frisk. “Okay, slight change of plan. We’re going to deliver something for Undyne THEN we’re gonna go see Alphys.”

They eight year smiles, giving a nod. “Okay!”

Sarah takes their hand, leading them back to Snowdin, using all the shortcuts she knew to make the trip faster.

They soon reach Hotland, walking to the where the ferry waits, the cloaked monster quickly taking note of the two.

“Tra la la. Care for a ride?”

Sarah nods, tucking a stray strand of her golden hair behind her ear. “I-if you don’t mind.”

The monster smiles under its hood. “Where will we go today?”

“Snowdin, please.”

The monsters nods as Sarah gets in the boat, the blonde helping Frisk onto the boat. “Then we’re off...”

The boat moves, sending them to their destination. “Tra la la. The angel is coming... Tra la la.”

“Wh-what?” Sarah blinks, confused by the statement. She groans lightly, putting a hand to head, a headache forming. “That’s... strange...” She shakes her head, deciding to ignore it for now.

The boat soon stops, having arrived at Snowdin. Sarah steps off the boat, helping Frisk off as well. “Thank you for the ride!”

The river monster nods. “Come again some time. Tra la la.”

Sarah waves, walking with Frisk through Snowdin, Sarah can feel the headache grow. It was like something was trying to get in...

Her eyes widen in realization. Oh God...

“Hey! Humans!”

Sarah blinks, realizing that she was just before where Undyne and Papyrus stood. She breaths in and out, putting on a smile and walking up to Undyne. “Hi Undyne!”

“Um, so, I have a favour to ask you.”

“Yes...?”

Undyne pauses for a moment. “Uuuuh, I... I need you to deliver this letter. To Dr. Alphys.”

Sarah blinks, noticing the letter in the fish monster’s hands. “Okay, but, um... Wh-why can’t you do it...?”

Undyne rubs the back of her neck. “... Um. W-well... I-it’s kind of personal, but we’re friends... so... I’ll t-tell you... Hotland SUUUUCKS!!! I don’t wanna have to go over there!!! So here you go.”

Sarah laughs, taking the letter. “Alright, alright, we’ll do it.”

“Oh, and if you read it... I’ll KILL you.” Undyne grins. “Thanks so much! You’re the best!!”

Sarah closes her eyes, the pain in her head growing stronger as she bites her lip. Undyne blinks. “Human, you alright?”

Sarah gives a smile. “Yeah! Yup! Tooootally fine!” She sighs, kneeling down to Frisk. “Alright baby finch, you know what Undyne just asked, right?”

Frisk nods. “Yup!”

Sarah nods handing the letter to Frisk. “Do you think you can make the trip on your own and deliver the letter to Alphys yourself?”

Frisk blinks, taking the letter and looking up to their sister. “A secret mission...?”

Sarah chuckles, giving a nod. “Yup! A super-secret mission! Think you can handle it?”

Frisk grins, giving a nod. “Yeah!”

Sarah smiles. “Okay, good! Now run baby finch! I’ll meet you at the lab later, okay?”

Frisk nods. “Okay!” They wave, running back to the river monster as Sarah stands.

“GAH!!” Sarah clutches her head, tears forming in her eyes at the pain.

Papyrus and Undyne take a step towards her. “Human, are you ok??”

“I’m fine!” Sarah snaps lightly, taking a staggered step. “I... I have to go!” Sarah runs off, ignoring the concerned calls of her friends.

She didn’t know where she was heading.

She just had to get away.

The world around her soon becomes black as she stops running, panting from lack of air. She jolts when laughter echoes around her.

“Couldn’t let them see you turn into a monster? Heheh... How curious.”

A shiver runs up Sarah’s spine.

She’d know that voice anywhere.

She turns around; facing the brown haired demon as he grins.

“You.”

Chara laughs. “Yes. It’s me. And guess what?~” Knives appear beside him, aimed directly at Sarah. “Your dumb friends aren’t here to protect you anymore!”

He shoots the knives at Sarah. Sarah jumps back, dodging the attack. Chara watches her. “So you’ve gotten better.” More knives appear. “But you can’t keep dodging forever!”

Sarah’s eyes widen, running in this horrid game that Chara had made.

“They send me away to find them a fortune, a chest filled with diamonds and gold. The house was awake, with shadows and monsters, the hallways they echoed and groaned.”

Chara blinks at Sarah’s soft voice, though scoffs. “Singing won’t help you now!”

Sarah gasps as a knife flies just past her face, making a clean cut across her cheek. “I sat alone, in bed ‘til the morning, I’m crying, “They’re coming for me!” And I tried to hold these secrets inside me, my mind’s like a deadly disease.”

Chara glares at Sarah as she runs, dodging the knives. “And just how long do you think you can keep this up?”

Sarah pants. “F-for... as long as I need to!” She jolts when a knife whizzes just past her ear. “I’m bigger than my body. I’m colder than this home. I’m meaner than my demons. I’m bigger than these bones.”

Sarah cries out as a knife pierces her back, making her stumble, though she still runs. Another one strikes her leg, making her fall onto her knees before another one pierces through her back once more, making her collapse onto the floor. “And all the kids cried out, “Please stop, you’re scaring me!” I can’t help this awful energy! Goddamn right, you should be scared of me! Who is in control?”

Sarah flinches when Chara draws near her, chuckling darkly. “You lasted much longer than last time. But still, you CAN’T WIN!”

“N-no...”

Chara blinks. “No?” He laughs. “You honestly think you can win??? How adorable!” He smirks. “Go ahead! Call out to your stupid friends! See what good it does you.”

Tears form in Sarah’s eyes. “I... I...” Her shoulders shake. “...Help.”

Chara waits a moment, soon laughing. “But nobody came. And no one ever will!” He raises his hand, knives appearing above Sarah. “This ends now!”

“No...” Sarah pushes herself onto her knees. “No!”

“Still trying to fight? Heh. How cute. Now die!!!”

“NO!!!”

Chara’s suddenly thrown back as Sarah is engulfed in a bright light.

“I paced around for hours, on empty, I jumped at the slightest of sounds. And I couldn’t stand the person inside me, I turned all the mirrors around.”

The light dies down, Chara blinking. His eyes widen at the sight before him. “Wh-what!?”

Sarah stands, eyes closed as a wind picking up around her. The most prominent thing about her was the snow white feathered wings coming from her back. “I’m bigger than my body. I’m colder than this home. I’m meaner than my demons. I’m bigger than these bones.”

Shadows group around Sarah, their eyes glowing different colours.

Orange, purple, green, yellow, pink, blue...

Chara quickly recognized who they were. “That... That’s impossible!!!”

“And all the kids cried out, “Please stop, you’re scaring me!” I can’t help this awful energy! Goddamn right, you should be scared of me! Who is in control?”

Sarah puts a hand to her chest.

While the souls of her friends where no longer with her, she could feel her friend’s spirits helping her, giving her strength.

They were her source of hope, her source strength, and her light.

They were her determination.

“I’m well acquainted, with villains that live in my bed. They beg me to write them, so they’ll never die when I’m dead.”

She now understood what Toriel had meant.

That her bonds made her stronger.

That her friendships made her soul stronger.

Her friends were what kept her determined, what made her keep fighting.

Even though their souls were no longer with her, her friends are with her in spirit.

“And I’ve grown familiar, with villains that live in my head. They beg me to write them, so I’ll never die when I’m dead.”

“Be good, won’t you? My child.”

“I believe in you!”

“I’m with you all the way!”

“No worrying, ok? J-just forget about it and smile.”

“I’m rootin’ for ya, kid.”

“Knock ‘em dead, darling.”

“I’m bigger than my body. I’m colder than this home. I’m meaner than my demons. I’m bigger than these bones.”

Sarah opens her glowing silver eyes, feeling warmth flooding through her. She knew that no matter what, her friends were always with her, always cheering her on.

Knowing that your friends are with you...
It fills you with determination.

“And all the kids cried out, “Please stop, you’re scaring me!” I can’t help this awful energy! Goddamn right, you should be scared of me! Who is in control?”

Sarah walks forward, Chara scrambling back, eyes wide with fear as his body shakes.

With each step she takes, light flutters about, blooming out much like a flower.

“And all the kids cried out, “Please stop, you’re scaring me!” I can’t help this awful energy! Goddamn right, you should be scared of me! Who is in control?”

Chara just watches her, terrified. “Wh... what are you!?!”

“...” Sarah smiles. “I am the Angel of Life. Just are you are the Angel of Death. And you no longer control my fate.” She holds out her hand. “So stop trying to make me your puppet!”

Chara’s eyes widen as light shoots from Sarah’s hand, turning everything white.

“-up!  C’mon, just open your eyes already!!”

Sarah groans, putting a hand to her head. She slowly sits up, blinking open her eyes, Undyne kneeling down beside her. “U-Undyne...?”

Undyne lets out a breath, helping Sarah to her feet. “Do you normally take naps in random places?”

Sarah shakes her head. “N-no, I was...” She blinks. “What was I doing...?”

Undyne raises a brow. “You don’t remember?”

“N-no...”

They pause, hearing voices farther in the hall.

“Is that... Frisk?”

“And Alphys?”

The two blink, glancing to each other before running into the garbage dump, following the voices.

“-AGAIN, UNDYNE!!!”

They skid to a stop, Alphys and Frisk looking to the two.

“WHAT did you just say?”

Alphys panics a bit. “U... Undyne! I... was... just...”

“Hey, woah, wait a second! Your outfit’s really cute! What’s the occasion?” Undyne glances between Frisk and Alphys. “... Wait a second. Are you two... On a date?”

“UHHH, YES!”

Sarah facepalms.

Of course this is what they were doing.

“I mean, UHHH NO! I mean, we were, but- I mean, actually we were only romantically roleplaying as you!”

“WHAT???”

“I MEAN!!! I mean...” Alphys sighs. “Undyne... I... I’ve been lying to you!”

“WHAT??? ABOUT WHAT???”

“About... well... Everything!” Alphys takes a few steps towards Undyne. “I told you that seaweed was like... scientifically important... Really, I just... I just use it to make ice cream!” She takes another step. “And those human history books I keep reading... Those are just dorky comic books!” And another step. “And the history movies... those... Those are just, uh, anime!” And one more step. “And that time I told you I was busy with work on the phone... I... Was just eating frozen yogurt in my pajamas! That time I...”

“Alphys.”

“I... I just wanted to impress you! I just wanted you to think I was smart and cool. That I wasn’t some... nerdy loser.”

Unyne puts a hand on Alphys’s head.“Alphys.”

“Undyne, I... I really think you’re neat, OK...”

Undyne kneels down, hugging Alphys. “Alphys. Shhhh. Shhhhhh.” She picks up the reptilian monster, throwing her into a nearby garbage can. “Alphys! I... think you’re neat, too, I guess. But, you’ve gotta realize... Most of what you said doesn’t really matter to me. I don’t care if you’re watching kid cartoons or reading history books. To me, ALL of that stuff is just NERDY CRAP! What I like about you is that you’re PASSIONATE! You’re ANALYTICAL!! It doesn’t matter what it is! YOU CARE ABOUT IT!! 100-PERCENT!! AT MAXIMUM POWER!!! ... So, you don’t have to lie to me. I don’t want you to have to lie to anyone anymore. Alphys... I want to help you become happy with who you are! And I know just the training you need to do that!”

Alphys pops her head out of the garbage can. “Undyne... You... Y-you’re gonna train me...?”

“Pffft, what? ME?”

Papyrus pops up from somewhere in the piles of garbage.

“Nah, I’m gonna get Papyrus to do it.”

“GET THOSE BONES SHAKIN’!!! IT’S TIME TO JOG 100 LAPS, HOOTING ABOUT HOW GREAT WE ARE!!!”

Undyne takes a stop watch out of her pocket. “Ready? I’m about to start the timer!”

“U-Undyne... I’ll do my best...!” Alphys runs off with Papyrus to for their training.

“OH MY GOD!!! She was kidding, right!? Those cartoons... those comics... Those are still REAL, right!? ANIME’S REAL, RIGHT?!?!”

Sarah sighs. “U-Undyne... A-anime... anime isn’t real. I-it’s never been real...”

Undyne’s eyes widen. “No... NO!!!! I CAN FEEL MY HEART BREAKING INTO PIECES!!!” She pauses. “... ... No, I can survive this... I have to be strong. For Alphys. Thank you, human, for telling me the truth. I’ll try my best to live in this world... See you later!” She runs off to catch up with Papyrus and Alphys.

Sarah blinks, putting a hand to her face. “What the hell just happened?” She looks down when she feels a tugging on her jacket, smiling down at Frisk as she ruffles their hair. “Heya Frisk! You delivered the letter alright?”

Frisk smiles, giving a nod. “Yup!”

“And that letter is why you and Alphys were on a date...?”

“Yeah!”

Sarah chuckles, shaking her head. “Alright. Come on let’s get out of here.”

Frisk nods, taking their sister’s hand as she leads them out of the garbage dump. Once they reach the entrance, Sarah stops, her phone ringing. She pulls it out of her satchel, flipping it open and putting it to her ear. “Hello?”

“If it isn’t my good friend, who trusts me. This is Papyrus. Your also mutual friend.”

Sarah raises a brow. This was already suspicious. “Pap? Sh-shouldn’t you be t-t-training Alphys right now?”

“Alphys and I finished our training early. Very early. So I sent to her home. Very home. Uh... Now. I feel strongly and for no apparent reason. You should also go... there. To her. Lab... house. I have only good feelings about this. Goodbye.”

He hangs up.

Sarah blinks, a chill going down her spin.

Something about this seemed very, very wrong.

She sighs, snapping her phone shut and putting it away. “C’mon, we’re gonna go see Alphys.” She takes Frisk’s hand, leading them through the area.

Something about this didn’t seem right.

And she was going to find out what it was.
And all the kids cried out,
“Please stop, you’re scaring me!”
I can’t help this awful energy!
Goddamn right, you should be scared of me!
Who is in control?
