Footsteps sound on the stone road, a red-haired male passing by various building as his blue eyes look forward.

The male smirks, showing off his fangs, his fox-likes ears twitch to the sounds around him, his tail swaying as he walks. “There’s nothing rich folks love more, than going downtown and slummin’ it with the poor.”

He stops, turning his head to look at one of the passing carriages. “They pull up in their carriages and gawk at the students in the common, just to watch them talk.” He motions to a passing male that had short violet hair. “Take Axel Xin: the man is loaded.”

The red-haired male chuckles. “Uh-oh, but little does he know that his daughters, Snow, Sylvia, Arlene, sneak into the city just to watch all the guys at...”

“Work, work!” Voices join with his.

An indigo-haired female claps her hands together, her eyes red, their glow hidden. “Sylvia!”

The red-haired male smirks. “Work, work!”

The green-haired female twirls, giving a curtsy. Her eyes matched her sisters. “Arlene!”

A snow-haired female jumps up onto Sylvia’s back hugging the older female. Her bangs were ice blue, her left eye red, her right eye blue/grey. “And Snow!”

The red-haired male chuckles. “Work, work! The Xin sisters!”

Sylvia smiles. “Sylvia!”

Snow grins, showing off her sharp fangs. “Snow!”

Arlene smirks. “Arlene!”

The red-haired male snaps his fingers. “Work!”

Snow pauses for a moment, tugging on the sleeve of Sylvia’s green dress. “Daddy said to be home by sundown!”

Sylvia rolls her eyes, giving a chuckle. “Daddy doesn’t need to know.”

“Daddy said not to go downtown!” Snow responds, her hands curled into fists near her chest.

Arlene ruffles Snow’s hair. “Like I said, you’re free to go!”

Snow shakes her head, smoothing out her hair. “But—”

Slyvia runs ahead, twirling before stopping at a railing, looking out to the sea. “Look around, look around, the revolution’s happening in New York!”

“New York!” Arlene and Snow echo. “Sylvia!”

Sylvia snaps her fingers. “Work!”

Snow nervously plays with her hair. “It’s bad enough daddy wants to go to war...”

Arlene points to where a group of people seem to have gathered. “People shouting in the square!”

Snow sighs. “It’s bad enough there’ll be violence on our shore!”

Sylvia takes Snow’s hand. “New ideas in the air!” She spins her sister around, making the younger female laugh. “Look around, look around!”

Arlene stops the two, grabbing Sylvia and putting an arm around her shoulders. “Sylvia, remind me what we’re looking for...”

A few boys look over to the sisters. “She’s lookin’ for me!”

Sylvia rolls her eyes, picking up her sister’s arm and dropping it off her shoulders. “Arlene, I’m lookin’ for a mind at work, work!” She takes her sister’s hand, running through the streets. “I’m lookin’ for a mind at work, work! I’m lookin’ for a mind at work, work!” She stops. “Whooaaaaa!”

Snow and Arlene’s voices join with Sylvia’s. “Whooaaaaa! Work!”

The red-haired male puts his hands behind his head. “Wooh! There’s nothin’ like summer in the city, someone in a rush next to someone lookin’ pretty.” He walks over to Sylvia, giving a small bow. “Excuse me, miss, I know it’s not funny, but your perfume smells like your daddy’s got money.”

Sylvia gives a sigh, rolling her eyes.

The red-haired male smirks, his tail flickering. “Why you slummin’ in the city in your fancy heels, you searchin for an urchin who can give you ideals?”

Sylvia glares at the red-haired male. “Thorn, you disgust me.”

“Ah, so you’ve discussed me.” Thorn smirks, holding out his hand to Sylvia. “I’m a trust fund, baby, you can trust me!”

Sylvia slaps his hand away. “I’ve been reading Common Sense by Thomas Paine, so men say that I’m intense or I’m insane.” She puts her hands on her hips. “You want a revolution? I want a revelation, so listen to my declaration!”

Snow and Arlene walk up beside their sister, their voices joining hers. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal!”

Sylvia smirks, crossing her arms. “And when I meet Thomas Jefferson?”

Snow and Arlene grin. “Unh!”

Sylvia takes her sister’s arms. “I’m ‘a compel him to include women in the sequel!”

Her voice joins wither her sister’s voices. “Work!”

Arlene breaks away from her sister, twirling before looking to her sibling. “Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now!”

Snow giggles, running over to Arlene to tackle her sister into a hug as her voice joins with the green-haired female. “Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now!”

Sylvia walks over to her sisters, hugging them both as the three raise their voices up. “History is happening in Manhattan and we just happen to be in the greatest city in the world! In the greatest city in the world!”

The three break off, talking at the same time, though they speak different words. “Cuz I’ve been reading Common Sense by Thomas Paine...” “Look around, look around...”  “Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!”

Sylvia spins, Snow grabbing her hand before running forward, Arlene quick to follow. “So men say that I’m intense or I’m insane.” “The revolution's happening in...” “Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!”

The three stop, grins on all their faces. “You want a revolution? I want a revelation!” “New York! In New York!” “Look around, look around the revolution’s happening...”

Sylvia raises her hand to the sky. “So listen to my declaration!”

Sylvia and Arlene raise their voices up together, Snow closing her eyes as her speaks her own words. “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal!” “Look around, look around!”

The three girls smile. “Whoo!” “At how lucky we are to be alive right now!”

The sisters take each other’s hands, smiling wide. “Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now!” Sylvia leads her two sisters forward. “History is happening in Manhattan and we just happen to be in the greatest city in the world!”

They stop at the edge of the docks, the sea never seeming to end before them. “In the greatest city... In the greatest city in the world! Work, work!”

Sylvia grins. “Sylvia!”

Thorn twitches his ears. “Work, work!”

Arlene twirls. “Arlene!”

Snow giggles. “And Snow!”

Thorn grins. “Work, work!”

The three girls raise their voices up together. “The Xin sisters!”

Thorn’s voice joins with theirs. “Work, work!”

Their voices split, the three sisters speaking together while Thorn speaks his own words. “We’re looking for a mind at work!” “Work, work!”

Thorn flicks his tail. “Hey!” “Work, work!”

The sisters watch the boast come and go from the harbor. “Hey!” “Work, work!”

Thorn’s voice fades as Arlene separates her voice from her sister’s voices. “Hey!” “Work, work!”

Snow separates her voice from Sylvia’s, the three now speaking their own words. “Whoa!” “Work, work!” “Work, work!”

Sylvia wraps her arms around her sister’s shoulders. “In the greatest city...” “Work, work!”

Arlene and Snow wrap their arms are Sylvia’s shoulders. “In the greatest...” “City in the world!” “City in the world!”

Their voices join together, the three smiling wide. “In the greatest city in the world!”

Sylvia blinks open her eyes, pushing herself into a sitting position as she looks around.

Her room.

Queen sized bed, desk and chair, dresser, closet.

A room made of stone, no windows.

The vampire sighs, her glowing red irises flicking to the picture on her bedside table.

A picture of her, Ryuu, Snow and Frost.

The indigo-haired vampire picks up the picture, staring at it.

A dream of long ago. Before Arlene framed them, before they came to this place.

They can’t go back. They can’t ever go back.

All they can do, is keep moving forward.
